Story

Numis is the leading broker and UK equity house and this is only possible with the support and commitment of our loyal and growing client base. Without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today.  Numis and 25 other member firms of the London Stock Exchange are raising funds on 4th July for the UK’s leading cancer charity – the Royal Marsden – abseiling  down the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the 100m high metal sculpture and viewing platform in the Olympic Park.

The Royal Marsden is the leading hospital and centre for specialist care and research into cancer in the UK.    The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity is running an appeal to build the new Oak Cancer Centre at their Sutton campus in south London.  Many will know someone who has benefitted from the great work that is carried at out the Marsden.  One in two people will develop cancer at some point in their lives, and the Marsden needs to increase capacity to treat patients and deliver more breakthroughs in research. To do this, the Royal Marsden is raising £70 million to build the Oak Cancer Centre and have raised £52 million to date.

The new Centre will increase capacity to see patients by 40% and double the number of patients referred to the hospital for early diagnosis, saving more lives by catching cancer earlier. For the first time, the Royal Marsden will house over 300 of its world leading researchers alongside patients and clinicians, driving forward advancements in cancer treatment, research and care.

We want to be the leading fund raiser in this endeavour reflecting our leading position in UK equity markets more generally and this will be only possible with the
support of our highly valued clients.  Numis has selected/volunteered/nominated Luke Bordewich - one of our senior corporate financiers – to represent the firm to descend the 262 feet down what is the UK’s tallest free abseil resplendent in the team uniform of unique “Royal Marsden purple” suits.

We would appreciate the support you can give Numis (aiming to at least maintain our usual market share) to enable us to maintain our leading position in capital raising – in this case raising cash to fund the amazing and life changing work at  this wonderful and world leading hospital.   Numis will be matching donations.
