HCF is a county wide charity which seeks to tackle need and deprivation by providing grants to vital small charities, community organisations and to families and children living in crisis in Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire is perceived to be an affluent county and yet there are pockets of deprivation in every district, in fact there are 30,00 local children living below the poverty line

Sure a part of this is me doing something for myself; to be healthy and to set a good example to my children, but it's also going to be a privilege to do something worthwhile for the local area. A much respected CEO I know used to refer to this as 'enlightened self interest' - doing something great for yourself whilst doing something wonderful for others
