Story
I’m hoping you can help me raise money for BeyondAutism.
I’ve actually never fundraised before so I’m quite nervous because I have a £200 target hanging above my head - eek!
Luckily I have some amazing colleagues who are going to help raise the money and also take part in the challenge - Colour Obstacle Rush! It looks fun but I’ve been warned you need lots of upper body strength and this is something I don’t have, so to the gym it is (not joking, I signed up last week)!
I chose to raise money for this charity because I found myself in a situation a few weeks ago when I was on my morning commute and I came across a young boy who was completely naked. He was putting himself in danger by running from one side of the road to the other, totally unaware of the oncoming traffic. I quickly realised this young boy had severe autism and was non communicative.
Myself and a few strangers did what we could to help clothe and comfort him until the police arrived. Without getting too emotional and too deep this had a profound effect on me and although I was pleased that myself and a few others were able to help, I couldn’t help but think I could have done more.
Since then, I’ve done a bit of research and found a way where I can raise money for a fantastic charity that supports young children with autism and also have some fun whilst doing it.
I’d be so grateful if you could sponsor me no matter how big or small and if you could also spread the word to anyone and everyone who would be willing to help.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! xXx
