Story
I'm fundraising for SameYou as part of the Virtual Inca Challenge and I'm hoping to raise £300 amount to support brain injury recovery. But I need your help to get there!
I'll be walking 26 miles - the length of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu! I'm going to try to do it in two sessions over one weekend, so I need to find some good podcasts or something. Unfortunately I am not currently in Peru, but rather in Stockport (often called the "Peru of the UK"), and so the trek will involve much more of Greater Manchester than the traditional route.
Also there's a pandemic on at the moment so my route will quite possibly get marginally larger on the day, as I weave in an out of people from an appropriate distance. Maybe I'll pretend they are alpacas or particularly mobile rocks, so as not to shatter the illusion. Similarly, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for roving groups of 6 people, lest I find myself in an legally precarious position by wandering too close.
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is caused by injury to the brain after birth. This includes strokes, tumours, concussions and accidents. 1 in 3 people will have an Acquired Brain Injury at some point in their lives but this is hardly ever talked about.
SameYou want to change this. They are working to break the silence around brain injury and help give people the best possible chance of recovery after leaving hospital. Any donation would help and would be really appreciated. If you are interested in learning more, go to: https://www.sameyou.org
Thank you in advance for supporting me. I couldn't do it without kindness of friends and family like you.
P.S. remember Ango is doing this as well and we can't really let her raise more now can we?
