Story

In 2022 Teagan and I had planned to complete the MacMillan mighty hike, however, the country was in mourning following the passing of Queen Elizabeth, so we are trying again for 2023. Any previous donations are still linked to our hike and cause - thank you!

As a recap, our story is below:

Following my Mum's recent 'all clear' diagnosis from neck cancer, my sister and I were sure we wanted to do something to raise money for the wonderful Macmillan nurses and also to do something a little challenging (more so for some of us unfit 30-year-olds!) to show our support and pride in how amazingly she smashed out this year.

The diagnosis came at the end of 2020 after a challenging year where not only dealing with the Covid pandemic, but also the deterioration and passing of her Dad, and our Gramp. Anyone who has experience with Dementia will appreciate the strain, sadness and trauma this can cause. So, when grieving his passing and then her diagnosis, the year of 2021 was not as beautiful as we may have imagined. However, the strength, determination and courage she has shown has been unexplainable. She, for sure, is 'Not your average Jo'.
