Story
Following a full service career in the Royal Air Force for some 33 years, I’ve always been involved in outdoor pursuits, from Sailing in the early years, and in my forties taking up mountaineering. In the following two years I was involved in training young airmen in completing the Ten Tors on Dartmoor. My experience has been gained throughout the UK completing the Munroes (284 Mountains over 3,000 feet) in 1999, and having climbed in mountain ranges all over the world.
Now in the evening of my life I want to climb a mountain that eluded me back in the early 90s, Kilimanjaro at 5895 metres. I hope to complete this in September 2019, and at the same time raise much needed funds for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, which covers Bristol and surrounding areas. I also wish to undertake this challenge in memory of past friends and loved ones no longer with us, to celebrate their lives and their contribution to mine.
