Norfolk Coast Mighty Hike for Macmillan in Memory of Jemma Payne

This May, I’m taking on the Macmillan Mighty Hike along the Norfolk Coast, covering an incredible 26 miles on 10th May 2025. This isn’t just a physical challenge; it’s a journey close to my heart, inspired by the bravest person I’ve ever known: my mum, Jemma Payne.
In August 2020, during the challenges of lockdown, my mum was diagnosed with breast cancer. She faced it head-on with extraordinary strength and overcame it, giving us hope and a sense of relief. But in September 2023, a persistent cough revealed devastating news: the cancer had returned. After a courageous seven-month battle, she passed away on 8th March 2024, at just 49 years old, leaving me, 19 at the time, my little brother, who was 10, and my dad, who was 57, heartbroken.
Even now, almost 10 months on, we as a family are still grieving. Losing my mum has left a hole in our lives, but it’s also ignited a determination to honour her memory and support those facing similar battles. Macmillan Cancer Support played a vital role in her journey, offering care, compassion, and practical support when it was needed most.
By taking on this challenge, I hope to raise funds to help Macmillan continue their incredible work for other families facing cancer. This hike is a way to honour my mum’s memory, reflect on the moments we shared, and contribute to the support Macmillan provides to those in need.
I’d be so grateful for your support—whether that’s a donation or simply sharing this page. Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
