Background

Many of us make various new year's resolutions in the hope to better ourselves. 2010 is the year in which I feel the time has come for me to get involved in raising some much needed funds for poorly children.

I have decided to charity fund raise for children diagnosed with cancer (paediatric oncology) at Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH).

Each year BCH treats over 180 children with new cases diagnosed with cancer, leukaemia, and brain tumours from within the West Midlands, Northampton and surrounding areas.

Due to restricted funding/grants available, the paediatric oncology unit is always in need of extra financial support in order to ensure that the best service is provided to these children throughout the initial diagnosis, treatment and right up to the general aftercare and support once they are on the road to recovery.

What will I be doing to fund raise?

On Tuesday 30 March 2010, I will be jumping out of a plane for charity along with a couple of friends who are also charity fund raising for the hospital (however different wards). I will be doing a 20,000 feet parachute jump.  All funds raised will go Birmingham Children's Hospital Paediatric Oncology Ward. I have spoken to the hospital and they have confirmed that all funds will be injected into the ward having access to more resources to diagnose these poorly children more quickly and providing the essential treatment to help them recover.
