Norah Minett Memorial Walk 2010

Fundraising for Breast Cancer Now
Norah Minett was a wonderful 90 year old woman. She had been housebound for nearly 15 years and I can honestly say I never heard her moan once. She was the heart of our family and was never happier than when we all around at her house.
In October 2009 she was taken off her feet and completely lost the use of her legs. While she was in hospital to our horror we found out that we were going to lose her to breast cancer. The disease was agressively moving through her body and nothing could be done. We didnt know it but we only had 4 weeks left with her. The family promised her that we would bring her home and we kept our promise. Nan's determination and strength of character showed throughout, she never let us see that she knew she was going to die and always kept her dignity. When she finally lost conciousness the doctors told us she only had hours left, with her determination and refusal to give in she lived on for another 2 days.
Through all the suffering and pain she never gave in and it is because of her strength and determination that my brother, Paul and I are undertaking a memorial walk in her name. Between 12th June and 19th June 2010 we will walk 145 miles from London to Birmingham along the Grand Union Canal in nans memory and to raise funds for Breast Cancer Campaign.
Life isnt the same without nan but we can make sure her memory lives on and at the same time help raise funds for the research that Breast Campaign helps carry out.
Times are hard and money is tight but any small donation that you make will go a long, long way to help in the fight against this disease. Please help in any way you can
Thank you
Steve Minett
