Muslim Hands have scaled the peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro, climbed the Great Wall of China, and walked the dry deserts of Jordan; Muslim Hands is now organising its first ever Ambulance Aid Convoy to travel through several diverse countries and deliver 25 ambulances to the impoverished people of the Rawalpindi District in Pakistan.
In 10 days we're driving over 6000km across 8 countries for 1 cause.
This is no ordinary journey, the drives will be tough, tiring and extremely rewarding.
You'll require bags of enthusiasm and patience as we venture through different terrains, countries and driving conditions. This initiative will not only help change access to medical transport for vulnerable and needy families but also instigate some change within ourselves, insha'Allah.
The Big Drive is a unique opportunity for us to:
- Fundraise to make a real change to the pre-medical emergency services available to less fortunate women, children and families
- Venture out of our comfort zones to put into perspective the value of those things we grow to take for granted
- Have an experience which will leave a lasting impact on the lives of all those for whom you've embarked on this Ambulance Aid Convoy
Across Pakistan emergency medical transport has long been neglected. In an area as vast, diverse and over populated as the District of Rawalpindi the lack of accessible emergency transport has dire consequences, particularly for impoverished families living in remote villages.
Patients from these remote rural areas who have been referred to one of the four main hospitals in the District of Rawalpindi are most vulnerable. Unable to access medical transport or pay for a taxi, they rely on charitable bystanders in private cars to reach the hospitals. Often with no transport available many have no choice but to walk for miles to receive the treatment they require.
Under the current circumstances expectant mothers and young children are especially vulnerable. Their health is often affected due to inaccessible transport which results in ther treatment being delayed.
Muslim Hands intends on allocating the ambulances to several of the basic health units in villages across the District of Rawalpindi to provide an accessible and efficient emergency medical service.
Insha'Allah upon the successful completion of this project we would like to extend this service to other areas of the developing world where there exists a need for emergency medical transport.
For the ill, sick and injured of Rawalpindi this fleet of 25 ambulances will help save lives, insha'Allah.
