Story
Welcome to Nolan's 6th Annual Toy Drive for Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh!!! As some of you may know Nolan spent several months in and out of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh when he was younger and first diagnosed with his Auto Immune Disorder. Throughout his many stays he has fond memories of the Child Life Department and some of the toys that he received from them...with his favorite being a big Mickey Mouse that he received during one of his longer stays and he also remembers them giving his sister Naddison a Rainbow Puppy which they both still have today.
In 2014 Nolan had received duplicate birthday gifts and instead of returning them he asked if we could take them with us to one of his upcoming appointments to donate for other children who may have to stay at the hospital like he did. We decided to set those toys aside and add a few more to the collection. After sharing this story with friends and family they too decided to add some toys to his collection and before we knew it we had collected almost 600 toys, books, blankets, and more that we were able to donate to the Child Life Department during the 2014 Holiday Season.
This began Nolan's Toy Drive that has become a yearly tradition for our family and friends!!! Over the last several years Nolan has spoke at our church during Sunday Mass and has also had the opportunity to speak with many of the places that they attend for activities, and other local businesses to help support his toy drive. Over the years we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Divine Redeemer Parish (St. James Catholic Church in Sewickley, Pa and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aleppo, PA), Gymkhana Gymnastics, Hardin Compliance, Western Pennsylvania Montessori School, Sewickley Academy, Wexford Dance Academy, Wexford ATA, Wexford Veterinary Hospital, Automated Health Systems, Dentistry for Kids in McCandless, and Dentistry for Kids in Cranberry.
Like so many things in 2020 Nolan's Toy Drive looks different from years past due to the current circumstances, and both Nolan and his sister Naddison having to stay home since they are both considered high risk. We may not have been able to set up boxes at all of the various collection sites this year, but with the assistance of Children's Hospital we were able to set up a page for Nolan's 6th Annual Toy Drive for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh so that friends, family, and other supporters could still make his yearly project of Giving Back possible!!!
Through this page you can access the Child Life Department's Wish List and send toy donations directly through this site: https://www.myregistry.com/wishlist/upmc-children-s-hospital-holiday-gifts-pittsburgh-pa/2539390
You can also make monetary donations to the Child Life Department directly on this page.
We remain optimistic that next year we will be able to conduct our regular collections and work with all of our supporters in person, and hopefully return to our family tradition of an in-person delivery.
Thank you for your continued support...it is truly appreciated!!!
With Gratitude-
Gina, Nolan, and Naddison
