Story
I am running the Dublin City Marathon on the 30th Oct 2022. (This is a carry over from 2021 due to injury) Still running for same cause.
I am extending this fundraiser so I can hit the target I set myself and hopefully go well beyond that target with your help
I am running in memory of a few close family members and family friends. Ann Flanagan (Lynch), Kevin Snr Hogan, Noreen Meaney, Paul Meaney, Lar Kennedy.
These people were close in all different ways.
Ann was one of my closest cousins and we were practicably reared together. Ann unfortunately lost her fight in January 2020.
Kevin was gentle old sole who loved his Sunday evening pint and had a huge love of everything most notably his family, I was introduced to Kevin in 2006 when I was lucky enough to meet my wife Emma, Kevin accepted me in to his home and we continued a very close relationship through all types of sport most notably rugby until he lost his fight in 2010
Paul was like the big brother to all the young kids on the road, He was the protector. I was very young when Paul passed but always remember him being the guy that would stand with his mates through thick and thin especially when he was playing sports as Hurling, Football and Soccer. Paul unfortunately lost his battle in 1990.
Noreen, What can I say, The 2nd mother, close friend. Noreen always made sure that we were safe, Always made sure we were not hungry, We spent as much time in Noreen's house as we did in our own home. There are many stories that i could share about Noreen and how kind she was, She loved her mug of Strong Black Tea and was always on for a bit of gossip. Noreen lost her battle in 2012
Lar was a 1st cousin of my mother, Lar was another gentle old sole who would have went out of his way to ensure that you had everything. If there was anything at all he could do he would. Lar and his wife Mary were always regular Sunday evening visitors to our house and also loved the chats and gossip. Lar lost his fight in 2020.
These are the people that I will be remembering on the 31st Oct when I run the Marathon, This is why I want to help this very important charity so they can go help the thousands of others that are suffering.
