Story
Hi,
At the start of January 2022, my Dad, Noel Pollard was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Motor Neurone Disease. Dad lost his battle against this cruel disease on the 10th March 2023 and passed away peacefully at home.
This horrible disease gradually stops messages from the motor neurones reaching the muscles, causing them to weaken and waste. This life limiting disease affects different people in different ways - from how you talk, eat, drink, move about and even how you breath. Not all symptoms affect everyone, and the order in which the symptoms appear vary from person to person and it progresses at different speeds, all of which make it very unpredictable.
Last year a group of us completed the Thames Bridges Trek and raised money for MND Association, and Dad walked across the finish line with us which was very emotional as you might expect. We hoped to be able to do something like this again with him this year, but sadly MND had other ideas and took him away from us too soon.
MND Association are a wonderful group of people who support people living with MND and their families on a day to day basis, and their incredible team of researchers are working hard to find a cure for this cruel disease.
The money you donate via this page will go towards helping MND Association find a cure - the more we raise, the sooner they can find a cure meaning fewer people will have to go through what Dad went through and we can eradicate MND once and for all.
On behalf of me, my Mum, Sophie and Rob, and all those living with MND, thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
xx
