Story
I will form part of a squad of 8, raising money for Leeds Cares by embarking on the biggest cycling challenge I have ever embarked upon. The route is 98km through the Yorkshire Dales. Taking in some pretty tough climbs, the steepest of which is 19% gradient!!
Of course we are riding for the very worthy charity of Leeds Cares which provides support for LTHT, improving patient care and services. However we also ride in memory of Professor Mohan Sivananthan; who passed away earlier this year.
Mohan was the first person I met in Interventional Cardiology and he was so generous with his time and knowledge. I basically camped out in his lab for a month. As well as being an incredibly skilled operator, he was a real wind up merchant too, with a wicked sense of humour. Over the years we developed a great friendship. So it was quite a shock when he passed away in April.
He definitely would not have joined us on this challenge. However he probably would have organised a post challenge BBQ with great food and always, always excellent wine.
This one's for you Mo.
