On May 15th, I will be attempting to complete the 26 mile original marathon between Marathonas and Athens to support the work done by two wonderful, important and necessary organisations which I am involved in: Chamomile Housing Project and Mazí Housing Project.

Both organisations fill an alarming gap in provision for displaced people living in Athens. Chamomile for housing and social support for displaced people facing mental health challenges, and Mazi for housing and social support for displaced men living in Greece without their families. 

Not wanting to risk knee replacement surgery I have decided to cycle half and run half of the marathon. 50% of what I raise will go to Chamomile and 50% will go to Mazí. If you would like your donation to go specifically to one, please mention this in your comment when you donate!

Chamomile provides holistic and supportive accommodation to displaced people with mental health difficulties as the first and most crucial step towards mental wellness, giving participants the space and stability to build their own autonomy. 

Mazí provides accommodation, material and social support to young displaced men in Athens who are homeless. We aim to support residents to become independent and overcome the barriers of social exclusion as well as to be a stepping stone that gives them time, opportunity and resources to move on to the next chapter in their lives.
