Just a little bit of background to our charity plans:
I (Auntie Cats) stumbled across the Little Princess Trust in 2012 through my work in the cancer research network and the work of the charity and goals are both simple and unique (and struck a chord for me personally). The Little Princess Trust provides wigs (often costing in excess of £2000) for children undergoing cancer therapy and who have suffered hair loss for other reasons. The Trust excepts real hair donations (minimum of 7 inches so long hair donations!!!) which it sends to wig makers and in return gets real hair wigs which it can distribute to individuals who would like them. It feels appropriate for me to donate my hair to be made into a wig for someone else because (as most of you reading this will know) I also lost my hair at the age of 3 during treatment for my Wilms tumour. In 2013 Henry and my Dad also wanted to support the charity so we came up with the 'hair and a half' idea and 4 years ago were extremely overwhelmed by the support and the amount of money we were able to raise for this worthy cause.
Now 4 years later Noa, my niece, is keen to continue our support for the charity and has convinced me to join her in her 'big hair cut' and so we plan to undergo radical hair cuts in order to donate our hair to the Trust. Noa has been our organiser and ordered the donation pack and has helped research the best hair cuts to maximise our donations. Once again we don't want anyone to feel pressured to support the charity and appreciate that people cycle the length of the country and do much more crazy things for charity but if you find a spare coin or two lying around please feel free to donate it to us and the Little Princess Trust....
Noa and I promise to post pictures of the new hair cuts and are even accepting suggestions for good 'short hair styles'
Thanks for your support,
Noa & Cats
As a matter of coincidence I will be running a half marathon the day after with Henry but that is apparently for fun....though I thought that might be worth a quid or 2 from sporting enthusiasts and might give me the much needed motivate me to get round!?
