Story
On the 8th of September 2012, two teams from niu are to complete two seperate walks, one from the Wood Street office in London and one from the Bagshot office in Surrey meeting in the middle.
niu has chosen Macmillan as our company charity for 2012. Many worthy cancer charities focus on research into treatments and potential cures of cancer, however there are still currently 2 million people in the UK who are living with cancer, and by 2020 this will double to 4 million people. Cancer will almost inevitably touch all of our lives at some point, one in three of us will ourselves receive a cancer diagnosis. If by good fortune we don't, no doubt a significant other, a family member, a colleague or friend will. Cancer is the toughest fight that many of us will have to face.
Macmillan is focused not only on support but on everything that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer...Macmillan recognise this. People with cancer, their families, friends and loved ones need help every step of the way. They are there to give help to carers, families and communities, to fund nurses and specialist health care professionals, to build cancer care centres, to provide emotional support and practical support at home, to provide financial and benefits advice...they are there all the way. They listen, they learn, they act to help people live with cancer. From little things that go a long way such as a lift to hospital, time off for a carer or just someone to talk to.
MacMillan share information through their cancer support specialists, website and trained professionals and are continuously fundraising. Donations make up 96% of their income and we at niu want to be involved in pushing forward a better deal for people living with cancer.
