Story
Hi everyone, thank you for visiting my page. I will be shaving the initials of one of your names into my head in order to help raise funds to support innocent Sri Lankans facing economic and political unrest.
Sri Lanka has faced constant battles in providing its citizens with stability. Ever since the beginning of the Civil War in 1983, government mismanagement and ethnic conflict has left the country ravaged. Currently, spiralling energy and food costs as well as power blackouts and the brutal murders of protesters has meant that the Sri Lankan government is not providing its citizens with the security and support they deserve. Whilst Sri Lanka itself is a beautiful island and home to such generous people, this is overshadowed by their government failing to protect them.
The brutal Civil War led to my parents fleeing as refugees and seeking asylum in the U.K. As a second generation immigrant, my own identity with Sri Lanka has always been complicated, one fraught with alienation and confusion. Through navigating this, I am becoming more understanding of the gruelling and tortuous realities that Sri Lankan citizens have faced. Relatives, friends, civilians and communities are in need of humanitarian aid - they need our help.
I shaved my head last year and raised £754 for those struggling in Palestine - whilst risking looking like a carbon copy of my Dad for a while. This year on Monday 25th July 2022, I will be switching things up a bit by shaving the initials of one of your names into my head!
The decided initials will be randomly selected from the list of donors, so please leave your first and last name when you donate.
Hopefully we can beat the total from last year! Thank you in advance for your support and donations.
Much love :) xxx
