Story
I am running the London Marathon 2022 to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice, in memory of my Dad, Nino (Senior).
( Update 28/9/22: Due to a very successful campaign, we've just increased our target to £20,000! Thank you so much to everyone that's so kindly supported thus far! Overwhelming support in memory of Dad which is just so touching. Thank you. )
-Those that know me will know that I was due to run originally in 2020! Which sadly was postponed due to COVID-19. I've got my trainers back on now though and I'm determined to accomplish this big challenge in the hope of raising lots of money for this great charity.
We lost Dad in March of 2018, after being diagnosed terminally ill in October 2017. From the moment dad was admitted to the Duchess of Kent Hospice, the whole team were nothing short of incredible. They were so kind and caring, and throughout Dad’s stay we genuinely saw miraculous improvements in him, both physically and emotionally. These improvements are a testament to the amazing care he received, and thanks to the hospice we were able to have so many more quality months with him than the original prognosis suggested. I passionately want to support Sue Ryder so that they can continue to be there for all other families in need, like they were there for us when we needed them.
Other than running around the restaurant daily, I am not by any means a runner... The London Marathon will be a great challenge for me, but anyone that knows me will know that I enjoy a project and to keep busy! Dad touched so many peoples lives- particularly through his restaurants- and was an incredibly loved member of the community. In his memory, I really hope that people support me in this fundraiser. I would be so grateful for anything that anyone could donate, no matter how small.
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
