Story
Firstly, my article explains why Mental Health UK is such an important charity to me - https://www.tri247.com/triathlon-features/opinion/nina-mcarthur-triathlon-family . Now recovered from my battles, I want to help others manage or beat theirs.
Lloyds Banking Group’s signature fundraising event for MHUK since 2018 has been Walk the Talk. This aims to get colleagues walking and talking about mental health, helping to reduce the stigma attached to mental illness whilst raising vital funds for Mental Health UK.
My fundraising for 2019 is focusing on tackling mental health challenges in young people. Research shows that one in eight children and young people have experienced a mental health issue in 2018.
Your donation will go towards a programme to look at the main issues affecting young people, equip them with the skills and knowledge to protect their mental health and prevent long-term mental health challenges in later years. The scheme aims to reach over 100,000 young people in schools across the UK.
I’ll be doing lots of different events in the run up to my main challenge which is a 5 day trek of 76km minimum, from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat, in Cambodia:
