Story
This may only be a sprint triathlon, however around the harsh hills of Pateley Bridge, I think the reduced distances will still be a challenge!!
I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for charity and have chosen the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF).
I know that nowadays people always seem to be asking for donations and sponsorship, however....
The RAFBF is a worthy cause, and I feel that the Army Benevolent Fund seems to get all the promotion, whereas our RAF personnel seem a little left out! Serving in the same conflict zones as the Army, they still face the exact same challenges and dangers. The ABF and RAFBF do some amazing work helping injured service personnel, their fractured families and all manner of other issues. A cause well worth supporting. As an Abbeystead regular, I have still done my bit for the ABF ;-)
As an example of the amazing work they do, £120 would pay for a month's top-up to enable a veteran to stay at home, close to their families and friends.
£30 would pay care-home fees for a struggling veteran for one week. After they have given us so much, and fought for our freedom, now is our chance to give something back.
THANK YOU so much for reading this far and for whatever amount you may chose to donate, every penny counts! To know that we will be helping such worthwhile causes will make hurtling up those hills so much easier. (And let's hope I am hurtling and not hurting!!)
