Story
It is with a very heavy heart that we update this page with news of Ursula's passing. She is so very missed by those who loved her, of which there are many. Ursula was fiercely independent and determined, she set out to achieve and a lot of her efforts went in to helping others - be it in the local community or further afield.
From being a moderator on the local maidenbower Facebook page; working as a TA at MJS, impacting on the lives of many of the students passing through the school and fundraising tirelessly for the school's pta. Ursula also learnt a new language - BSL and even put her knitting skills to good use making Woolly Hugs - blankets for those facing adversity and her latest batch for children affected by Chernobyl. When she received her own Woolly Hug it went everywhere with her and was an ironic, much loved, source of comfort.
But that wasn't enough for this formidable lady who loved travel and adventure. Her charity work also saw her trekking in Machu Picchu, China and Jordan. Building houses for orphans in South Africa through Coco's Foundation, one of her favourite experiences; and climbing Mount Toubkal. Everywhere she went she made good friends. She loved to scuba dive and lived life to the full. Yet when we told her about our abseil she thought we were joking at first! Said something along the lines of 'you're mad!' (but not as succinctly put!) and said she'd never do it! Sad, she knew she wouldn't be around to see us do it but the first thing she did was sponsor us! That was Ursula, always thinking of others.
She was full of wit and wisdom. Happy to listen to your problems and offer advice. Failing that, her sense of humour would have you in fits of laughter and that wicked sense of humour shone through til the bitter end.
Rest in peace our beautiful friend who did so much for those around her.
