Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have always done fundraising for charities from the race for life and moon walk to doing just over 100 walks in one year back when I was in p7 with my sister for JDRF, so helping others has always been something I love to do.
I have decided to support Young Minds charity (youngminds.org.uk) as I have previously been affected by Mental Health due to being bullied through school, mainly in High School for any reason they decided. I ended up getting help from my parents and a school counselor which made me think about others and how they might not be able to speak to their parents or have a counselor they can access. I wanted to support a charity that works hard to help young people with their Mental Health and even if they dont contact the charity directly, the website has loads of advice that will be something to help them.
In due course I want to write a couple of books which I have started on the subject of bullying, my experience and it's affect. One will be aimed at primary school level and one at high school level.
The challenge is to complete the distance of two Marthons in the month of May. I will run, walk, crawl or any other way I can less car / bike the distance of two miles a day outside if we are still allowed or on the treadmill (I might need to do it on the treadmill if the pollen is too high as I have hayfever). I have ran a 5k a few years ago at The Race for Life but most of my running takes place in the format of a game like volleyball or basketball as normal running is quite a challenge which is why I wanted to do it. I have already started my training to build up for the challenge.
We are a very charity nutty family up for a challenge and my parents do know what I am doing as my mum (Nina Pollock) is going to help with the fundraising and is helping me train and stay focused. My dad (Billy Pollock) is going to help share things and make it public - he is my quiet strength. They both support me and have both done numerous things in the past for charity for instance in 2018 mum ran the London marthon whilst living with Myalgic Encephalitis (ME) for Crossroads Caring for Carers and she's had her head shaved for DKMS last year. Mum also runs a Poppy Scotland Stand every October/November as she and my dad are veterans.
