Please sponsor me...It's my last marathon I promise. It's going to be very difficult to write any of this without sounding like I'm tugging on the emotional heart strings but here it goes...(and if all this fails then please sponsor me for this photo of Dom doing an impression of me running!).

11 years ago when I first met Dom I was a committed non excerciser, Dom encouraged me to run a 5k and helped me to train and it's no lie that my first run was 58 seconds. I've come a long way since then, literally and metaphorically. Dom always encouraged me, sometimes with positive words, but often with his own brand of motivation, calling me "psychologically weak sports wise" was one of his particular favourites. When I ran the Liverpool marathon he ran alongside me for the last half mile because he could see how much I was struggling.

I found out I had gotten through the London Marathon ballot 3 weeks before Dom died. I told him I was going to defer my place and I flew off the handle when he asked me why?! "Hello, I'm exhausted"...he said he thought I could handle it and said I should reconsider. And I did.

Please sponsor me. I run for my wonderful husband, I run because he struggled and fought even when he was exhausted. I run because if he could, he would. I run in memory of the most wonderful person I have ever met.

The money raised will go to support the work his fabulous surgeon Richard Cohen over sees at UCLH. Dom and I met him at the beginning of Dom's illness, and he was a wonderful support to both of us over the years.
