The 2.6 Challenge · 26 April 2020 ·
Every day and night, in communities throughout the UK, Marie Curie provides vital care to people who are approaching the end of their lives. We believe that no one should die alone or in pain. Our services are needed now more than ever, but they require us to raise nearly £2.5m from the generous public *every single week* to deliver these, and the coronavirus pandemic has meant that most of our normal means of raising funds have been suspended until further notice.
Our family wanted to do our part, so we are joining the #TwoPointSixChallenge by making our own Everest Base Camp attempt from the safety of our home. Over the course of the next week, we’ll be climbing our stairs - over and over and over and over - until we’ve climbed a cumulative 1,760 flights to take us to the elevation of Everest Base Camp (which happens to be situated at an elevation of 26 x 26 x 26 feet). We’ll be a little sore, maybe even a little dizzy, but if we can hit our fundraising target, we’ll be very proud.
Every £20 you donate gives a dying person the gift of an hour of Marie Curie nursing care, so please give generously. And as an added treat, for every donation we receive, we’ll send the donor a fun fact or a joke specially curated by one of the Niles children!
Charities pay a small fee for our service. Learn more about fees
