Just uploaded an official Brighton Marathon Race photo...if you follow the link below it will take you to more photos of me and some video of the half way and the finish.
What a brilliant day... Brighton came out with pride and cheered on the runners in the beautiful sunshine all around the course. Friends from university, work, School parents, Shoreham friends and family came to see me attempt this... what a slog!
Glad I wore the pink outfit... it meant the kids could see me easily and my top had my name on it so I got loads of cheers and mentioned on a loud speaker!!
Having a photo taken today with other BHASVIC teachers who ran the Marathon .... then I might stop mentioning it to my students and acutally take off the medal!! MIGHT!!
A BIG BIG BIG Thank You to all who have sponsered me and put up with me.... before and after... talking about it non-stop... and what a fabulous amount of money raised... well done to you all xxxxxxxx

WOW !! I am so so pleased with the amount we have raised so far... BRILLIANT!!
Just did a small run this morning with Freddy in the glorious sunshine along the river Adur. Would have prefered overcast and cold non windy day.. but you cant have it all. The spectators will have a blast.
Friends are dressing up and I am stripping off!! Down to shorts and a top because I get so over heated!
Be intouch after the race..

Just found out there is an ipod app that is called Brighton Marathon.. and you can keep an I on the route and it publishes the results as and when runners cross the line!
The Worthing 20 was hard but I was really really pleased with my time of 3 hours and 33 mins. However I am not convinced I could have gone any further.
The weather is too good and I am getting scared that it will be too hot, too cold and wet, too long etc... AARRRGGGHH!!!
Another update soon.,

Hello there... this is my first chance to explain why I stupidly decided to run a marathon in 2010.
There are a number of reasons... some silly ... and some less so...
1) Andy ran the 2000 London Marathon... I wanted to beat him!
2) I thought I enjoyed running with my dog - Freddy - big brown labrador.
3) My Great Aunt Mickey died of Cancer when I was young and I missed her very much.
4) Friends and relatives... too many to mention really... you all know who you are....
5) With the help of Mum and Dad I found my birth family recently. They too have a shocking history with cancer.
6) Since meeting our new extended family an Uncle has also passed away, with a fight, from cancer. Which gave me the final push I needed to try to raise some money for the people who help when things get really tough.
I'm uncomfortable asking for sponsorship, I am sure this is some kind of penance that I am making... some suffering I need to do!?!? However ... if you would like to give me a little more than moral support, I would love to think my 26.2 miles were helping my chosen charities.
Macmillan Hospice, this dreadful disease has blighted all my family terribly and that of Andy's and the support they provide is outstanding and very important.
Here's to us all, and wishing me well, having done the Brighton Half Marathon lin February in freezing wind and rain ... I am now fully aware of what I am letting myself in for, and I think I might not make it!!!
Nikki, xx
