Story
21 years ago today, when I was 15 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. After several months undergoing chemotherapy treatment at hospitals in Birmingham and Stoke, I was referred to Make-A-Wish by one of my nurses.
My parents tried desperately to keep family life as normal as possible but we did become a little bit broken. Make-A-Wish sent us on an amazing holiday to the Mediterranean which gave us some much needed time to put ourselves back together, have some life changing moments and create some memories that will stay with us forever.
September is Childhood Cancer Month and I can't think of a better way to raise funds and awareness than to take on the Make-A-Wish "Walk For Wishes" challenge, where my mum, sister and myself will be walking 10,000 steps a day for the next 30 days (or trying to, in my mum's case!)
