Story
I will be walking 100 miles as part of StrideQuest to raise funds for the amazing work that SpecialEffect do to help disabled gamer like my son Chase have access to the amazing world of video games. Chase and family will be joining me for as many if those miles as possible!
Special Effect have been providing help for Chase to access video games since he was 5 years old, 6 years on and he's a fantastic little gamer, his favourite games are Sonic All Stars Racing and more recently Stardew Valley which he loves to play alongside his sisters. The support from Special Effect has been wonderful and I am thrilled to be able to do something in return to support them.
Chase suffered a brain injury at birth and as a result has four limb cerebral palsy with dystonia. He is non verbal and his fine motor skills are quite limited which makes even holding let alone using a game controller impossible. Special Effect has kept up with Chase over he years to assess and loan him equipment so that he can game alongside everyone else, it brings so much joy to both his and our lives.
I'll be posting more pictures and updates as we continue our StrideQuest!
SpecialEffect is a UK based charity that enables severely disabled people to have access to video games and other leisure activities, by carrying out assessments and adapting technology to their individual needs. This can hugely benefit mental well-being, self-esteem and quality of life, as well as giving them the opportunity to have some much needed FUN! By levelling the playing field, we're bringing families and friends together and having a profoundly positive impact on confidence and rehabilitation. SpecialEffect are continuing to offer assessments, equipment loans and advice during the Covid lockdowns and appreciate your support more than ever!
