Story
It was Friday 26th September 2014, a misty autumnal morning much like any other, when Evie had an accident which could have changed her life forever.
Evie was kicked hard in the head by a horse. Evie is just rising 3 years old. Fortunately Evie was wearing a hard riding hat, but as soon as it happened I could see a gash in her forehead deep enough to reveal her skull bones and the blood poured down her face and over me as I ran for help, cuddling her and praying she would be ok.
I have given donations to the Air Ambulance services in the past, never thinking I would actually need them, but that day I was so glad to hear the helicopter coming in to land next to the house. The emergency services were AMAZING, but without the helicopter we would have taken nearly an hour to get to hospital, and at time of the accident we didn't know how much damage had been done.
Luckily, Evie had no concussion or brain damage, just a nasty gash requiring the expertise of the excellent maxillofacial surgeons at Exeter hospital and an overnight stay to recover. But the situation could have been very different and for many others, the DAAT service is a real life saver...
So Evie and I want to try and raise the money it cost DAAT to lift her to hospital, approximately £3,500. Without the generosity of previous donations, the air ambulance would not have been available for us, so we want to make sure it is available for future emergencies too.
We will be running some fund raising events and hope you will be able to support these, and we have this justgiving page as well, so donations can be made online if you prefer.
Thank you so much x
