Story
So the last time you heard from me via JustGiving was when I was running the Baker Hughes 10k in Aberdeen in May. Well this time it’s because I’ve ramped it up a notch and am running the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon!
Most of you will already know why I am running this, but for those of you who don’t know, here’s why.
In February this year my big cousin Scott passed away very suddenly. He was only 40 years old, and sadly left behind is wife Lorna and 3 year old daughter Milly. The family didn’t know for quite some time why he died, so when I ran the BH10k I chose to raise money for SADS UK. I managed to raise a whopping £580 for them – I was completely blown away by everyone’s support!
We now know Scott died because of chronic heart failure. So, I’m running my first ever half marathon on Sunday 6 October in Glasgow to raise money for British Heart Foundation.
I’m training 3 times a week in order to prepare myself for the biggest challenge I’ve ever set myself. I’m feeling a whole variety of things about this run – scared, excited, sad, but mostly I am feeling proud. I know my big cuz would be super proud of me for doing this. And every time I feel like the running is getting the better of me, I just need to think about that and keep going.
Now, here’s where you guys come in – I would really appreciate your sponsorship. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Please remember to Gift Aid and leave your name so I know who to thank!
Aaaaaand if you feel like coming down on the day to cheer me on, well, that’d be great!
Thank you :-)
