Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am currently half way through studying for a BA in Environmental Studies, and I have learnt that one of the biggest issues facing a great many people on this planet is water poverty.
My cousin Sarah Field introduced me to Sand Dams Worldwide, a charity she works for that helps people to help conserve water with the construction of sand dams. The technology works, and I wanted to help by not only physically assisting with the construction of a sand dam in Kenya, but also raising much-needed funds for the charity to be able to continue it's mission to directly support other organisations to build 100 sand dams every year by 2020. This will help millions of the poorest people on the planet to transform their own lives through water and soil conservation in drylands.
I am therefore joining the charity's annual fund-raising expedition to Kenya in September, paying all travel and other costs myself. However, one of the conditions of joining the expedition is that each team member must raise a minimum of £500 for the charity, hence this page.
I know times are hard for everyone right now, but if you are able to spare a fiver to help support this fantastic work then that would be amazing! In return, I promise to get absolutely filthy building the dam, and will post lots of photos to prove it!
