Since Isabella was a baby I always knew there was something wrong with the way she walked.

After many visits to the doctors throughout her childhood we were always told the same thing, nothing could or would be done while she was still growing as there was always a possibility that things would correct themselves.  During this time Isabella always struggled with sports as she often stumbled and running was understandably challenging.

In 2015 there was a considerable deterioration and Isabella was getting pains.  After another visit to the GP she agreed there was something wrong and wrote a referral straight away.  Initially  we were sent to Queens Hospital where the specialist there spent minimal time with Izzie declaring that the only way to correct her walking was to operate and he didn't consider her problem serious enough it was just something that she had to accept 'it was just the way she walked'.  On leaving that appointment, Izzie burst into tears and finally told me how she was teased regularly.  So another appointment was made to see the GP.  After speaking to various friends and family a colleague recommended a surgeon based at GOSH Dr Roposch who specialises in hip disorders in children and young a people. Our initial referral was a private appointment but after seeing Isabella Dr Roposch said that if our health insurance didn't cover her treatment for any reason, he would treat her through his NHS clinic because her case so severe.  We took advice, and eventually decided to get Isabella's treatment through the NHS so that there would never be any problems about cover in the future.

Isabella was admitted to GOSH on Thursday 7th January and was in surgery for 6 hours.  Unfortunately Isabella had to go in for surgery again on Monday 11th January as one of the pins had come out on one leg.

In total Izzie was in hospital for a total of 11 nights.  Throughout the whole time of our stay every member of staff was so amazing, they treated Izzie with kindness and respect often and laughing and joking with her.

In the big scheme of things our stay was minimal and the treatment Isabella has was not life threatening. However  I am incredibly grateful for everything GOSH have done for Isabella, giving her an opportunity to walk properly and live a normal life.

If you can contribute in anyway possible to help other babies and children get to live the life they deserve then please donate to this worthy cause.

To thank you for your donation, every pound donated will be assigned a raffle ticket with a chance to win 2 VIP tickets to see Little Mix at the O2 Sunday 27th March. (unless of course the donation is anonymous)  Raffle will be drawn Saturday 19th March.
