Story

Hi everyone

Once again this year I am running the Great North Run in aid of DBA Support Group .

I support this charity every year as it is very close to my heart. My nephew has the condition, Diamond Blackfan Anaemia (DBA). It’s a genetic illness for which there is, as yet, no cure. It prevents the bone marrow of sufferers from producing red blood cells and can leave patients feeling very ill and tired. It is a life long condition and can have life threatening consequences.

It affects a very small number of people, only about 150 diagnosed cases in the , but this means that it is very difficult for sufferers and their families to keep aware of the latest medical developments, access the best treatments and get good advice about how to manage their condition. DBA Support Group exists to bring families and medical professionals together to share this information and support each other. It is only a small organisation, so your donations really do make a considerable difference to people’s lives. It is thanks in no small way to the work that DBA UK does that our biggest concern about my nephew at the moment is how much time he spends playing on his X-Box!!!

Thanks again for your support, you're all lovely people

Much love

Nikki x

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
