Story
When my younger sister, Jaya, was born, she quickly became ill with a virus. At just a few weeks old, she was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a chronic disease of the heart muscle that affects the heart’s ability to pump blood. She has battled with this her whole life. For Jaya, and for many kids like her, daily medications and frequent trips to doctors for echocardiograms, holter monitors, MRIs, and cardiopulmonary tests, are just part of their 'normal' childhood. While there are medications and surgical procedures to treat symptoms, the damaged heart cannot be repaired. A heart transplant may be necessary if the heart continues to weaken and cannot pump effectively. Currently, cardiomyopathy is a chronic disease without a cure.
Please help me by raising awareness and money aimed towards developing a cure for children's cardiomyopathy. By supporting CCF, you will help fund research and education on pediatric cardiomyopathy. Additionally, you will continue to help CCF provide patient and family support services, which has been of utmost value to my parents, and many others.
