Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGivingpage.
I am dedicating my time to raising money for Young Minds in memory of my lovely friend Sam, who we lost suddenly and unexpectedly in January 2014. Because of our work with teenagers and our own personal experiences of mental health issues, I feel that Young Minds would have been a charity that Sam would've wholeheartedly approved of!
This year I will be continuing to complete various challenges in Sam's memory, and hoping that you will follow my progress, and from time to time find a pound or two to donate to such a worthy cause. I will also be raising money in the classroom with my students.
You can donate in a variety of ways: either use the link on this page to pay online, or you can text NikB51 and specify an amount from £1 upwards (e.g. NikB51 £10) to 70070 , or if you're a work colleague feel free to pop along to my classroom and make a donation in person!
850,000 young people in the UK are affected by mental health problems. That’s three children in every classroom. Children can be affected by depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm… very real and scary problems. Young Minds are the UK's leading charity improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
Sadly, the Young Minds Parents Helpline is now facing a funding crisis. For 21 years the Parents Helpline has provided practical advice to adults desperately worried about the emotional problems or behaviour of a child or young person. There is no other service providing this level of support.
Young Minds help more than 10,000 families a year - more than ever before. Thousands of parents desperately need their help and the numbers grow higher every day.
Unless they can raise £500,000, they will have to close the service.
You can help save it by giving a donation.
- £5 can support volunteers on the Parents Helpline
- £10 means they will help a distressed parent/carer
- £35 will provide a parent with a 50 minute telephone call with a mental health professional
