After feeling some chest pains while riding my bike during 2020 I decided to get things checked out at the Doctors.

I was referred for a number of progressive tests which ended up with an Angiogram in March 2021. The Angiogram revealed a 99% blockage of the LAD artery and >95% blockage of the RCA. 

The Cardiologists advised against me going home and put me on an urgent list at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre in Basildon to have stents fitted. Further review showed that the location of one of the blockages would not allow Stenting so the decision was made to schedule Bypass Surgery.

It's been a steady road to recover since coming out of hospital and I am thankful to all involved in the process from start to finish. I want to raise money for the British Heart Foundation as their work was invaluable to me from recognisng the symptoms right through to understanding the wider implications that the surgery could have on me.

I was lucky to catch the symptoms before any further damage was done, the British Heart Foundations research helps people like me to recognise the symptoms and is also at the forefront of research to help those who suffer worse damage than I did.

My 1,000km ride will be 17 months post surgery and every donation no matter how big or small would be hugely appreciated, it may just help someone you know down the road.
