Story
The Night Shift
As we all know our NHS are doing an amazing job, but it takes on another dimension when caring for patients at night. This can be very difficult at the best of times but I am sure that the scale of patient care required at present is on a different level.
Some of you know that I’ve been a keen cyclist all of my life. So to pay tribute to the care given by NHS Night Shift workers I’m going to start riding at the time of the Big Clap, 8pm on Thursday the 28th May and ride through the night until 6am the next day.
I thought this would be the best way to challenge myself and raise funds for the NHS who are doing such a great job!
I’ll be riding a static bike called a Wattbike non-stop through the night. The ride will be covered live on a cycling APP called Zwift. If you are inclined you can join me for part of the ride if you like? And for those of you that might struggle with sleeping, give me a call and keep me company!!
I want to raise as much money as possible but if you can help me get to at least £3,500 to support the NHS it would mean so much. I am also doing this in memory of a good friend who I recently lost to this dreadful disease, RIP John you will never be forgotten.
Some cycling brands have kindly gifted me some cycling paraphernalia, which I’ll give away to whoever can guess how far I’ll cover during the event. To help you with your guess I normally cover up to 19 miles in an hour when out training. By making a pledge of a minimum £10, you’ll be entered to win a prize, so please add your mileage guess in the message box!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure and your details are safe and the money goes straight to the charity. Make sure to say yes to Gift aid if you’re a UK taxpayer this will give the charity more money at no cost to you.
Thank you so much
Paul
