Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm taking part in the 100km Nightrider London cycle ride on June 7th/8th http://www.nightrider.org.uk/Nightrider__London.htm with Terry Donaldson and Mike Gilderdale.
Many of you will know that my husband Ken was diagnosed with a brain tumour in September 2011. After successful treatment and a long recovery he was able to spend time with his loving family and friends, return to work, play a bit of cricket and travel to many countries.
Unfortunately in September 2013 a new, inoperable tumour was found and Ken passed away on the morning of Saturday, 23rd November 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Ken was treated with chemotherapy drugs researched and developed in the UK, and these and his calm, determined spirit meant that he was able to survive and spend valuable time with his family for an extraordinary two years after first diagnosis.
We feel that these last two years were a gift from previous research, so we are taking part in this ride to help support The Brain Tumour Charity in their mission to fund further research into brain tumours and their treatment in the hope that future developments can increase the length of time other families can spend with their loved one. Less than 2% of cancer research funding in the UK is spent on brain tumours. The survival rate is 13%.
