Story
Six years after slogging through the mud, rain and swollen rivers of the Yorkshire Dales for Oxfam's Trailtrekker, these four Grumpy Old Men are back this September to tackle the majestic, but famously rugged South Downs. Hoping for better weather, and embracing another chance to help Oxfam tackle poverty at a time when funds have never been more needed.
Training is ongoing -- we've been rambling both separately and together for months, with the longer treks over 30K in Richmond Park, Windsor Great Park and the Chilterns. But the charity event demands 100 kilometres over hill and dale through the day and night. We're aiming to finish under 24 hours.
The pain will be worth it, with all of our fundraising going to tackle dire poverty in places like Pakistan, which has suffered from the most horrendous and deadly flooding in recent weeks.
I really appreciate any support you can give. Donations will help to spur us along, especially when the going inevitably gets pretty tough.
Thank you.
Nigel
