Story
Thank you for visiting my new fund raising page - For results see below.
For the 3rd year (running!) I am taking part in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday 18th May. This year I am raising money for The British Lung Foundation in memory of my Father in Law, Harry, who died last year. Harry suffered from bronchiectasis, which damages your airways and means that your lungs don't work properly, leading to a series of lung infections. He is very sadly missed by us all and if I can raise some money to help others who are suffering from similar lung problems, I'm sure Harry would be very proud of that.
This year I will be running with Phill Dowell, who has joined me at the last minute to take the place of Dave Wright (last years running partner) who is currently injured. Phill will be pushing me (almost literally) over the 10Km course from Manchester City Centre to Salford Quays and back. My personal target is a Personal Best time of under 50 minutes, but that may be a bit optimistic - we shall see on the day. What I can guarantee is that it will be a great event and we will push ourselves (almost) to the limit to get round before a well deserved pint!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: British Lung Foundation will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
If you are able to donate some money it will be very much appreciated.
Thanks a lot for your support.

Great Manchester Run Results
As you can see by the new photo above left, Phil and Myself did manage to finish the run on Sunday. As usual it was a great event with 31,000 people taking part and thousands of people cheering us on. As I expected a personal best of 50 minutes was out of reach this time (something to aim for in 2009!), but we both crossed the line in 52.26 which we were more than happy with on the day - and getting a top 5,000 finish! By the way, the picture was taken outside Bar 38 straight after the run as we enjoyed an excellent pint . Thanks again for all your donations, it really made the training and running worthwhile, and special thanks also go to Phil for standing in at the very last minute - cheers mate!
