Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I took part in the UK Police Unity Tour from London to the National Arboretum with 5 other TVP officers, including the Chief Constable Francis Habgood, as guests of the organisers Chapter One - The Metropolitan Police, raising money for the Care of Police Survivors.
The experience of emotions experienced over the 3 days was indescribable, leaving an indelible mark on my 38 years of policing in Thames Valley.
This year I am the organiser of the TVP & Hampshire Constabulary Police Unity Tour, riding from Hungerford to the National Arboretum over 26/27/28 July.
We have 29 riders, a support team of 5, including our Medic PC (‘the one that got away’) Tom Dorman! We are participating in memory of 17 fallen TVP officers and 16 fallen Hampshire officers, all of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice.
On a personal level I am riding in memory of DC Derek Duncan, the son of my very first Inspector, Insp Peter Duncan (Milton Keynes). I am now also participating in memory of DC Steve Dixon who died in duty 11/11/1988.
I have pledged to raise £400 and like all participants, including the support team of 5, we have all paid to participate to cover costs, so every penny raised will go to COPS.
Last year, these 3 days raised almost £200K we all managed to raise well in excess of our personal targets.
Since last year TVP have tragically lost a further 2 officers, PC Daniel Clayton-Drabble (Milton Keynes) and PC Kevin Flint (Chesham).
I am proud to confirm that Dan’s Mum, Sue Clayton-Drabble will be riding with us as a Survivor in memory of her son, Dan.
Please contribute whatever you can to this cause, it makes a real difference as I personally know meeting the widows of PC James ‘Dixie’ Dixon and PC Gareth Browning, Sam and Ruth last year. That was very humbling indeed and reminded us of exactly why we were taking part.
