Story

Our teams story:

My Name'5 Doddie Foundation has ploughed £6.5m into MND research in the last 5 years, and we hope that a breakthrough in treatment will be just round the corner, in time to help the countless future victims of MND.

Doddie visited us to share his time, energy and fun! in exchange we donated a cask he picked and bottled it for a previous DoddieAid fundraising effort. Now its our turn to work a bit harder and complete the DoddieCup 555 cycle from Cardiff to Edinburgh.

We will be cycling over 500 miles between BT Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff in just 48 hours for Doddie’s Weir’s MND charity, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

The ride is led by Doddie’s former Scotland and British & Irish Lions teammate Rob Wainwright and will be staged from 10th-12th February 2022 to deliver the match ball for the Doddie Weir Cup.

Setting off on 10 February, the Doddie Cup 500, includes international rugby players and endurance cyclists, such as world record holder, Mark Beaumont amongst the 100-strong peloton of riders.

Our team will pedal for 48 hours, arriving in time to deliver the match ball for kick-off at the Scotland vs Wales match at 14.15 on 12 February.

Please consider supporting our team efforts to raise funds for DoddieAid and help to find a cure for MND!
