Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 31st July as a way to 'celebrate' my 60th birthday a couple of months ago, I'm taking on what might be my toughest physical challenge to date, the 255 Triathlon. Longer than Ironman, the triathlon involves a 5km swim, 200km bike ride, and a 50km run. The event is based at the Goodwood Motor Race Circuit, with the swim in the nearby Westhampnett Lake. Most probably, it will be a test of both psychical and mental fortitude!
It's not something I entered into lightly, and at the end of last year I started a 33 week training programme to get me somewhere near fit enough. Training has had its ups and downs, with a couple of injuries and, of course, a bout of Covid thrown into the mix all of which has, on occasion, left motivation waning. But with the support of Karen and Samantha, which has been huge, and my local triathlon club the final goal is now in sight. 😁
Not wanting to miss an opportunity, I'm hoping to use the occasion to raise funds for a local-ish RSPCA centre, @rspca_middlesex. Our current cat, Saffy (pictured) and her predecessor Theo were both rescued by the centre and while we're more than happy giving a home to a cat in need, watching each grow from being fairly timid animals, into their natural selves has been so rewarding, both have become invaluable family members. If you're able to support the charity in their important work, please do so via the link. Thank you.
