Story
I am running the Great North Run in memory of my stepson Aidan Brunger.
Aidan was a fourth year medical student at Newcastle University who was tragically murdered last year whilst on a placement at Sarawak General Hospital in Borneo. As a family we are extremely proud of Aidan and all he achieved in his short life, and are devastated to have lost such a funny, kind hearted, considerate and wonderful young man.
Aidan ran the Great North Run in 2013, achieving a very credible time of 1 hour 44 minutes in his first ever run. A number of his friends and family have chosen to run this year in his memory, choosing Antony Nolan as it is was a charity that Aidan supported. Aidan was on the donor register for Antony Nolan and had been found to be a special tissue match. He had hoped to be able to donate stem cells to provide a life saving transplant for someone. As he will not be able to do this now, we would like to raise funds for Antony Nolan to enable them to carry on their life saving work.
