Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
My father-in-law John Wickersham was diagnosed with cancer in November 2014 and in my wife's words "from that day my world fell apart". Following a year long battle with this horrendous disease, he sadly passed away on 5 December 2015 aged 73.
It was desperately sad as he was such a fit man, a non-drinker and a non-smoker. He had a real passion for life and was an inspiration to many including me. We thought he had beaten it in August last year only for it to come back again with a vengeance and there was simply nothing they could do to stop it.
This disease does not discriminate and I want to raise funds to help find a cure so other families don't lose a husband, a father (in-law), and a grandfather like we did.
I wanted to do something in John's memory. My wife, Sammy, and daughter, Emily are doing the Race for Life, but not looking great in pink, I have entered the Bedfordshire Triathlon to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. This will be a real challenge for me. It's a 1.5km swim followed by a 40 km ride and then a 10km run. I have been training since January and have completed Sprint Tri's before but never a full distance one. To put things in context at the beginning of the year the best I could do was a 400m swim!
Please, please, please donate to help fight this awful disease
