Story
On Sunday 28th May 2023 in Edinburgh (much to the surprise of family and friends) I will be running my first marathon. The training is done, so I'm as ready as I'll ever be, and I'd like to try and raise some money for the Multiple System Atrophy Trust in the process.
In 2019 my brother Phil (the actual family athlete), was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy. Sadly its a rare neurological degenerative disease, with no current cure, known as Parkinson's evil cousin. Phil is only 46 and married to Chloe with a 6 year old son, Riley. Chloe and Phil met through their love of sport and are raising awareness and fundraising in New Zealand, and I'd like to help by raising awareness in the UK.
For those of you who don't know Phil, in the following YouTube link, Phil and Chloe talk about the disease, how it has impacted them as a family and how they are choosing to make the most of everyday. https://youtu.be/DJsMzzSV2rc
Any donations given to the Multiple System Atrophy Trust will be gratefully received. They are a UK based charity providing specialist support for MSA suffers and their families and fund research into both the cause and cure. In the words of my big brother, I intend to make the most of what I can do today before its too late.
