Story
A very fit version of myself 3 years ago entered the Etape, a cycle event that allows amateurs to attempt a Pro Tour de France stage. After Lockdown delays the good news is it’s finally going ahead, the not so good news is whilst my mind is still willing, the body is less so…..
However, I set out 3 years ago to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic condition that affects over 10,000 people in the UK. Closer to home and the reason it is personal to me; the son of one of my best friends lives with the condition as does one of my son’s best friends. The CF Trust provide support for those living with CF, research better treatments and ultimately tackle the underlying cause. I am determined to make a difference and will do my best to ride the 170km, climb the 4,700m elevation gain to reach the finishing line in Alpe d’Huez on 10th July.
Training has been hampered by injuries, in particular a hip problem that prevents me riding too frequently. But that’s just excuses, what I really need is all you lovely people to encourage me through the last 6 weeks of training and on the event itself by collectively donating great sums of money to help better the lives of those living with CF.
It’s a great cause and together we can change lives.
Thank You
