Story
Sometimes babies are born prematurely or unexpectedly unwell and require specialist care after birth. Our Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Manchester provides care for babies that are born prematurely from 22 weeks' gestation and above, who have health problems that are picked up before or after birth, or who have been born unexpectedly unwell.
Nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals who care for the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society, continue to work tirelessly to support these babies and their families.
A few of us have taken up the additional challenge of a Dragon Boat race in May 2022 to help raise funds to support the ongoing care on our neonatal unit though our hospital charity.
As a charity our mission is simple: to support the excellence in treatment, research and care we provide to our patients each and every day. We want to make a real difference to the people we treat – young and old – by making sure that they continue to receive the very best treatment in the very best facilities.
