North Coast 500 virtual walk · 28 January 2021 ·

Community First Responders (CFRs) and Co-Responders are volunteers who work alongside the ambulance service to help patients in emergency situations. Currently responding to the Covid 19 pandemic, now more than ever they are our unsung heroes.

Story

Community First Responders (CFRs) are volunteers trained and deployed by your ambulance service to respond to emergencies in their communities. They freely give their time to help others and are there within minutes with the right knowledge and equipment helping to save lives. Backed up by South Central Ambulance Service staff these volunteers are skilled, trained individuals. There is no NHS or government funding for CFRs and all their equipment is paid for by voluntary donations.

My amazing dad Mark Potts is one of these CFRs, who is taking on a fundraising activity of his own- he plans to (virtually) walk from Land's End to John O'Groats in 12 months, that's 874 miles in total! To support him and his cause, I pledge to walk 500 miles this year too, some of these miles I'll do with him to keep him company (socially distanced, of course!), the others I shall do alone.

Please wish us luck and donate if you can!

Thank you.

About the charity

We support the ambulance service in Berks, Bucks, Oxon & Hants. We are raising funds: to train & equip our volunteers; to train & equip communities to save lives & to enable the ambulance service to develop & enhance the care it gives. All our funds go to things over & above what the NHS funds.
