Story
I signed up last minute for the Mongol Derby 2012. It will be a long 1,000 kilometres ride on tough Mongolian horses around 30 in total as we change them every 40 kilometres (its us not the horses who are supposed to suffer ;-), pony size, courtesy of our Mongolian hosts letting us ride the best of their herd.
As in many countries around the world life can be tough in Mongolia, especially in the rural areas and surviving is a challenge. The climate is tough and many are left vulnerable to face the elements and poverty.
Notwithstanding the Mongolians wanting to maintain their beautiful authentic lifestyle, development brings changes and need for adjustments on the part of the people of the land. Mercy Corps projects in Mongolia assists Mongolians in helping themselves with sustainable projects, which work as they target the already existing heart of their lives.
Your money will go towards farming projects, helping to produce and market products, share technology, find loans to finance individual plans, as well as awareness programmes benefiting the health of horses and other animals.
The global economic crisis has even reached the steppes of Mongolia, social programmes target those in need to build and rebuild their lives, connecting and educating in the name of creating one healthy community. And there is so much more. For details check out

Thanks a million! Money isnt' everything but a little can make a lot of difference in the life of Mongolians.
